This month, stargazers can soak in the solar system with guided nature hikes, roaring bonfires and an educational viewing at the U.S. Air Force Academy’s renovated Planetarium. Wolf Moon Hike – January 19, 2019

Fountain Creek Nature Center offers an array of year-round educational experiences and exhibits. Join an onsite naturalist for an indoor discussion followed by an easy, guided hike. Wolf Moon Bonfire and Barbeque – January 19, 2019

The Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center will celebrate the wolf moon with their special bonfire and barbeque. Head to Divide to enjoy meat and vegetarian chili, seasonal hot drinks, sweets and a group wolf pack howl by the light of the moon. Reservations are required. www.wolfeducation.org

Lunar Eclipse Kundalini Immersion – January 19, 2019

SunWater Spa will host two consecutive Kundalini Yoga, meditation and gong workshops. Eclipses and Phases of the Moon – January 20, 2019

The U.S. Air Force Academy has created a special opportunity to chat with the Academy’s observatory director. Visitors will enjoy a showing of the film “Eclipses and Phases of the Moon” in the newly-renovated USAFA planetarium. Afterward, Dr. Devin Della-Rose, USAFA’s observatory director, will venture outside as guests view the eclipse with unaided eyes as well as through telescopes. There is no cost for observing the lunar eclipse at USAFA and reservations are not required. Visitors can enter through the North Gate starting at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 20 and proceed to the parking lot next to the planetarium. All visitors must leave USAFA no later than 10:30 p.m. www.usafa.af.mil

Total Lunar Eclipse Viewing – January 20, 2019

Join the Colorado Springs Astronomical Society at the Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center to learn about lunar eclipses before viewing the phenomenon in person. The opportunity includes celestial views through binoculars and high-powered telescopes. The event is free to the public and no reservations are required. www.gardenofgods.com
