Into the lotus wilderness

Into the Lotus Wilderness | By Marja Wilson

A lotus seed in slumber,
Lay in dark repose
In a pond’s silt chamber,
Her awakening, self-imposed

Young bud tests the water,
With blind faith and sheer resolve
Toward the light despite the hardship,
Because she must evolve

Stages of this seeker,
Will venture the unknown
Searching for some clarity,
In a journey of her own

To surface, bloom and bask
From the darkness to the light
Morning casts a sunbeam
The lotus soaks in with delight

Deep in the human suggestion,
Travels inward warp and bend
Through a universe so logical,
The senses hardly comprehend

The spirit ever hopeful,
As if tethered to a seed
On a rite of passage,
To thrive in equanimity

The path is rife with obstacles,
Of fears actual and feigned
Choosing the lotus wilderness,
To explore a higher plane

Deep in the regions of the self,
Tethered to a murky seed
Stirring languid waters
Until a thousand petals breathe

Into the lotus wilderness
