Mystique Medicinals : New Apothecary and Wellness Club Featuring Medicinal Mushroom Tinctures, Yoga, Ecstatic Dance + a Deep Sense of Community

Last Updated: June 16, 2026By

Mystique Medicinals, a recently opened studio located between Frisco and Breckenridge, Colorado along Highway 9, is positioning itself at the forefront of the growing functional wellness movement. The business operates in two parts: an apothecary focused on functional mushrooms and a wellness club centered on movement and ceremonies.

Studio founder Kat Carter — a longtime Breckenridge yoga instructor, retreat leader and Ecstatic Dance Colorado innovator — says her goal is to offer a community gathering space to connect over functional mushroom grow labs, “flow labs” (a container to play with flow state consciousness), movement and meditation classes, vinyasa and Rocket-style yoga, sound healings, tarot readings, ecstatic dance and more.

“Community is needed now more than ever,” Carter says. “We need to provide spaces for healing, conversation and expansion that aren’t centered around alcohol.”

Members are seeking alternatives to conventional health products alongside gatherings built around mindful connection, mental health and longevity. On the apothecary side, Mystique Medicinals creates products that promote cognitive health, vitality and overall wellness. Shelves are stocked with functional mushrooms, adaptogenic supplements and nootropic formulations — think lion’s mane, reishi, turkey tail, chaga and cordyceps. The handcrafted herbal extracts have been shown to support immunity, brain health and cognitive function.

Clients are drawn to the natural light and plant-filled former garage — powerful Tenmile Range peaks to the west, flowing Blue River to the east. They come for one-on-one consultations, seeking help for everything from perimenopause symptoms to mental chatter.

“A client came in needing help with calming her mind,” Carter says. “With a blend of different functional mushrooms, we were able to help her. She noticed a change within a week. She’d regulated her nervous system. Her partner noticed positive changes and she felt more confident in her ability to be with herself.”

Mystique’s community wellness calendar is a revolving sandbox of healers, musicians and therapists curating offerings for all ages and physical abilities. The ultimate goal, Carter says, is to provide a safe space for integration where plants, breathwork, movement and expression collide.

“Traditional yoga studios focus on movement and have a singular focus,” Carter says. “This is a holistic approach where we’re focusing on how plants can help our minds and bodies, and movement helps support us somatically. All of these are tools for integration. I believe integration centers are the next thing. Our goal is to be a safe space for that.”
