“Our origin story is deeply personal and has helped me see and understand that sometimes suffering can truly blossom into something miraculous and positive,” shares founder Lizzy Sinatra. “After years seeking treatment for depression, anxiety, weight gain and hair loss that accompanied my diagnosed ovarian syndrome (PCOS), I felt hopeless and helpless by my own healthcare system. Every doctor I went to wanted to put me on prescription medication to “mask” my symptoms. But, I truly wanted to heal from the inside out. During my travels to India, I underwent an intense 21-day detoxification (panchakarma) at an Ayurvedic hospital in Kerala. In just a few weeks, I finally began feeling like myself again – energetic, optimistic, balanced and happy.”

“When I returned back to the states, I continued to take Ayurvedic herb superfoods to maintain overall health and wellness. Making the shift to plant-based eating, I had a difficult time meeting daily protein requirements, so I turned to supplementing with vegan protein powders. But, most made me bloated, tasted like soil, weren’t certified organic or didn’t test their products. And because my ovarian syndrome demands pure, clean foods and supplements, I decided to make my own. I experimented with the purest source of protein powders, put in digestive enzymes to help my body digest the protein and ingredients and put in my Ayurvedic herbs and a special spice blend. After a few weeks, I decided to quit the Ph.D. program that I was in at the time and pursue this protein idea as a company full-time. My Ayurvedic physician in India has become a very dear friend, and when I asked her to assist in formulating the herbal blends in my products, she gladly accepted,” Sinatra continues.

With this inspiring story at the forefront of the company, the team at Ayurvedic Protein Co. aims to promote a happy body and peaceful mind through physician-formulated herbal protein supplements rooted in ancient medicine.

They are heart-centered and intentional about every single ingredient, where it comes from and how it impacts the planet and the people that live on it.
