Partner Profile : Better Buzz Yoga

Last Updated: April 13, 2022By

If there was a single word that is the connective thread for Better Buzz Yoga (BBY), it is community. They are a beacon in their neighborhood and strive to be a warm, welcoming and inclusive space. The Better Buzz team is also active in the broader yoga community, working to explore how the industry and their team, specifically, can act more responsibly with issues surrounding colonization, appropriation, equity and other topics that oftentimes can be hard to dig into.

BBY’s teachers, students and the local neighborhood are all integral to who they are and how they exist within the larger yoga community. Walking into a class at BBY, whether it is your first time or your 500th, should be a special, welcoming, challenging and completely unpretentious experience. Their goal is to help students connect to the grit they already have inside of them and the grace that BBY believes everyone could benefit from extending to themselves and one another.

When it comes to classes, Better Buzz Yoga tends to value sensation over anything else and truly believe that what matters is the experience that students are having in their body and mind. They strive to facilitate a supportive space for people to come and be in relationship with whatever is happening at that time. BBY also values hard conversations, both as a teaching team and as a community.

“We are in inquiry about equity, social justice and our role in the world as human beings. We want to know what and how to be better stewards of resources, of our planet, of time, energy and how to care for each other better. We know we have a long way to go but are constantly striving to learn and grow in the ways we interact, so that we minimize harm and ultimately care for each other well and as whole human beings,” says owner of Better Buzz, Jaime Sense.

Students and teachers at BBY should expect to be met where they are, whenever and whatever that looks like. That may mean a hug as they walk in after a tough day, a vigorous movement practice or maybe a more subtle, restorative class. They offer adaptive cues, mindfulness practices or even an hour long savasna if that is what would be the most beneficial. All new students can receive 30 days of unlimited yoga for just $30.

Client Testimonial

“I’ve been attending classes at BBY for a few months now and it’s been such a phenomenal way to find community (and intentional movement!) again after the pandemic. The instructors are super sincere and sweet, and I’ve found they really make an effort to remember your name and face. Each instructor brings their own perspective to class, and the studio encourages them to teach in their own style. The greater community at BBY is friendly and of varying ages, experiences, body types, etc. I’ve made friends already and feel super comfortable introducing myself to people there. I’ve been a member at other studios and (truly!) BBY is my absolute favorite. I will forever prefer to support locally-owned yoga, and BBY shines far beyond nearby corporate studios. Thanks for all you do BBY team! Excited to continue growin’ and flowin’ :)” – Haley Witt
