Vail Recreation District (VRD) offers diverse and exceptional recreation opportunities that enhance the physical, social and emotional well-being of the Vail Valley in Colorado. The VRD aims to help Vail Valley residents and visitors pursue their recreational passions by providing outlets for competition in summer and winter via whitewater, running and a mountain bike race series, tournaments and leagues for hockey, volleyball, lacrosse, basketball, softball, golf, tennis, soccer, pickleball, flag football and figure skating, sports classes and camps for youth, adults and families and opportunities to learn about and appreciate the Rocky Mountain environment through guided activities, classes and camps and more.

Colorado’s most iconic and longest-operating trail running series, the Dynafit Vail Trail Running Race Series, produced by VRD, offers seven events throughout the summer and fall season. Course distances vary — the shortest distance offered is a 5K and the longest is a half marathon. Races are open to Vail residents and guests ages 13 and up. Find dates and sign up here.

Expect challenging courses, spectacular mountain views, cool prizes from stellar race sponsors, a community-building atmosphere and of course, delicious donuts from Northside Kitchen! Each race finish area will be stocked with racer refuel — nutrients to help you recover from your efforts. Participants receive a custom t-shirt with a unique design for each race.
