Roxborough State Park

With reviews on Trip Advisor naming this a “hidden jewel,” Roxborough State Park is a winter paradise for couples. A short drive to the Denver area, the 4,000-acre park is, “filled with dramatic red-rock formations, distinct plant communities and a variety of wildlife ranging from black bears to mule deer,” according to their website. You can try hiking, wildlife viewing, trail running, photography or bird watching. Daily passes are $8 per vehicle.

Cripple Creek Ice Festival

A spectacular event, the Cripple Creek Ice Festival features ice sculptors carving ice into beautiful works of art, a heated beer tent, as well as an Ice & Art Fest at the Heritage Center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily during the festival dates. A special Meet the Artists Saturday is set for February 8 from 1 – 5 p.m.. with hors-d’oeuvres and wine, along with live music. Set for February 8 – 16, 2020.
