I grew up on a small farm in the East Coast and a majority of my clothing was purposeful and also multi-faceted. I wore a variety of weights in flannels, jackets and even bottoms for all tasks and weather. Your barn coat could double as your bar coat. Jeans for the ranch and dinner. Dakota Grizzly’s line of clothing fits this niche: functional clothing that is designed to live and work in.
I recently had the pleasure of trying the Dalton from Dakota Grizzly. As soon as I opened the box and noticed the flannel-lined top, I felt right at home. It brought me back to the days on the farm wearing my barn coat and jeans to stay warm while working outside.
The Dalton has a microsuede bench cloth exterior with classy pewter ring snaps, giving it a super classy but rugged look. It’s the perfect piece for the urban and mountain man. I’ve even worn it before and after yoga, as it’s the perfect transition piece in temperate weather.
Another feature I think should be on all shirt jackets: the hidden side pockets. Having things in my pant pockets drive me a little nuts; the Dalton has space for my keys and wallet in the side pockets, and it has an internal pocket that my cell phone fits right in which makes it easy when I wear it to the gym or yoga. Everything I need can stay stored inside the Dalton.
After trying the Dalton ($108), I looked at many of the other amazing products Dakota Grizzly offers and found that the designs and materials Dakota Grizzly continue to resonate with my Colorado style that combines activity and leisure. Check out their line at www.dakotagrizzly.com.
