Try It On : Glerups Wool House Slipper | By Kim Fuller

Mid-winter is all about creating hygge (the Danish and Norwegian word for a mood of coziness and comfort), and while blankets and candles help to fulfill this cozy craving, there’s nothing quite like a perfect pair of slippers to keep you feeling warm when you’re home this season.

I love the quality and simplicity of the Glerups design. These wool house slippers are calfskin soled, made in Denmark and 100-percent pure and natural wool. Most surprising to me was how light these slippers are on my feet, and the temperature regulation makes it so that my toes never catch a chill, yet I never sweat in them.

Glerups are available in three silhouettes: open heel and shoe ($95) and low boot ($125), and multiple colors. The slippers are also available with a natural rubber sole or black rubber sole for outdoor use. I tested the calfskin soled felt ankle boot, but for anyone wanting to walk beyond the house in their Glerups, the rubber sole would provide a much better grip and sole protection outside.

The shape of the felt ankle boot follows the contours of the foot and the shaft ends at the ankle bone. These are light and flexible — perfect to lounge with around the house or pack for a long weekend away.
