The women’s cycling brand Machines For Freedom has partnered with the California-based art studio Dioscvri to present the Mystic Felines Collection. The collection is a nod to strong women — cis, trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming folks — who forge their own path.
Machines For Freedom is an inclusive women’s cycling apparel brand based in Los Angeles, California. “The Dioscvri x Machines collab was inspired by the power each and every one of us possesses,” explains Machines For Freedom founder, Jenn Kriske. Dioscvri is a women-owned and operated art studio in Alameda, California that creates art pieces in a sustainable way.
The Mystic Felines print features a tiger stepping on a snake, a panther with wings and a two-headed jaguar. It was inspired by the power, strength and agility felines have represented for centuries. Each design is block-printed by hand in the studio and then digitized for reproduction on the clothing. The design seeks to blend ancient art work with contemporary styles, like tattoo flash art.
I had the pleasure of testing out the short sleeve Mystic Felines Tee ($78). Buttery soft fabric creates an incredibly comfortable piece, and I’m absolutely obsessed with the print Dioscvri created. The tee is slightly cropped, making it the perfect pair to some bicycle shorts or leggings. Each side has small slits in the hem and the boxy cut make this a great transitional piece between spring and summer; the flowy fit will be sure to keep you cool. Made from 100% organic cotton, the shirt comes in sizes XX-small to XXX-large, making this collection accessible for all body types.
The entire collection includes: the short sleeve tee, a long sleeve tee, a cycling cap, a handkerchief and a water bottle set. View each piece at machinesforfreedom.com.
