Try It Out : RYZE Mushroom Coffee | By Lexi Reich
RYZE Mushroom Coffee accompanied me on a road trip to Zion National Park and later on a camping trip in Crested Butte this summer. Even with restful nights under the stars, I need my caffeine in the morning, and was curious to see if mushroom coffee could compete with my typical cup of joe.
Mushroom coffee is a growing trend designed to offer health and wellness benefits with each sip. It has an earthy flavor and often comes in a powdered form, making it easy to use on-the-go. RYZE Mushroom Coffee has coffee in it, but the blend also contains six medicinal mushrooms, known to be rich in antioxidants and vitamins, and MCT Oil, great for burning fat. The blend is vegan, non-GMO and free of sugar, gluten, dairy and soy.
I was interested to learn more about adaptogenic mushrooms, and here’s what I found after browsing RYZE Superfoods’ e-book:
- Cordyceps is a potent antioxidant that reduces fatigue
- Lion’s Mane enhances memory and improves focus
- King Trumpet fights inflammation and protects heart health
- Reishi reduces stress and promotes liver and heart health
- Turkey Tail guards the gut
- Shiitake is anti-viral and anti-inflamatory, and helps ward off the common cold
With all these benefits existing in RYZE Mushroom Coffee, it makes sense why even though it contains less than half the normal caffeine serving of traditional coffee, it still leaves you with sustained energy.
While mindfully traveling throughout Utah and Colorado, I enjoyed adding a scoop of the mushroom coffee to about 10 ounces of hot water. The earthy scent is very prominent, but I found adding oat milk and a dash of cinnamon helped balance out the flavor.
Now that I’ve returned home, I’ve mostly been keeping to myself and enjoying more time in the kitchen. I wanted to test the mushroom coffee even further by trying out some of the recipe’s the brand created. Here are my favorites:
Cinnamon Peanut Butter Iced Latte
- ½ cup almond milk
- 1 scoop RYZE mushroom keto coffee
- Dash of maple syrup
- 1 tbsp peanut butter
Blend all ingredients together. Pour over ice and add cinnamon on top.
Coffee Banana Smoothie
- 5 frozen banana
- 1 cup oat milk
- 2 tbsp cashew butter tahini
- 1 date or 2 tbsp date sugar
- Cinnamon
- 1 scoop Ryze Mushroom Coffee
Blend all ingredients together and enjoy!
