A gift box from UpRoot Design Studio is a lovely thing to find on your doorstep. Mine was left on a cloudy winter day, and it brought a little brightness and serenity to my day.

UpRoot Design Studio offers products that are truly sustainable, never greenwashed, and ethically made. Products from this studio boast hand drawn art by founder Julia Barry. She hopes her illustrations and green products inspire others and make it easier for them to live joyful, sustainable, healthy lives.

I received the Rejuvenate Gift Box, which includes organic lavender mint drinking cacao, an organic lavender eye pillow, a scented soy candle with a crackling wick, a greeting card printed on recycled, sustainable paper with a recycled envelope and adorable stickers all wrapped up in recycled/recyclable packaging.

The “Rejuvinate” Gift Box

The lavender mint cacao comes from Flying Bird Botanicals — it’s organically farmed and made from ethically wildcrafted herbs, and it’s packaged in plant-based biodegradable tea bags. Their cacao is made of organic raw heirloom Ecuadorian cacao and combined with organic herbs and spices. The lavender mint comes through nicely, which I was initially skeptical about since those flavors can get lost in beverages.

The soy candle from Weekday Candles has become my desk companion. It features 100% soy wax and phthalate-free fine fragrance oils to make clean burning candles. Their wood wicks are hand-crafted in the USA and are made from Forest Stewardship Council certified Wood. Their tins are made of tinplate which can be recycled indefinitely. The Sicilian orange, lily of the valley and sweet fig scent brings a bit of liveliness to my work day.

My most surprisingly liked product from the Rejuvenate Gift Box has been the eye pillow. Coming from a girl that does not enjoy things on her face (no facials for me), the eye pillow has proved to be a nice way to escape business and calm my senses. UpRoot’s eye pillow inserts and covers are hand-stitched with love, and the relaxing scent comes from responsibly-farmed, organic ingredients like lavender, chamomile and cloves, along with organic flax or wheat berries to add comforting weight.
