As Colorado, the country and the world are now witnessing an unprecedented global pandemic, yoga studios and wellness centers across the state have temporarily closed their doors to guests and students while leaders monitor the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Yet learning, teaching and inspiring continues in our statewide wellness and art communities, where classes are available in most digital platforms and websites, and where extensive content is becoming available at little or no charge to viewers.

SunWater Spa in Manitou Springs continues to inspire the community to embrace wellness from their homes through virtual content that facilitates connection, calmness and hope. Participate in daily meditation, practice yoga, or tap into your creativity through art classes. Online classes include: SunWater co-founder and creative director Kat Tudor’s Art & Yoga seven-minute video Art, Yoga and Responding to Global Tragedy, where she concentrates on how to create art and on deep breathing. Additionally, the Spa’s yogi Justin Kovac leads viewers through a virtual 30-minute Ayurveda yoga class. Content is updated regularly.

Tudor takes her online students through a four-minute breathing exercise as part of her Art, Yoga and Responding to Global Tragedy sequence.

“You can do this kind of breathing anywhere, and I especially like what I call ‘Breath of Joy,’ where you sip or snort air in and out through your nose and say ‘ha’ up to ten times with determination,” shares Tudor. “That movement brings in the fresh air, strengthens your lungs and helps you get rid of all the negative energy. Ha means sun in the Ayurveda practice and water in the Mayan culture – thus SunWater.”
