Yoga on the Mountain
July 19-21, 2019
This July will mark year three of Yoga on the Mountain in Snowmass, Colorado. Founder Krista DeBuhr says it’s the pillars of the festival that continue to inspire its evolution.
“The foundation of YOTM is movement, music and celebrating earth by connecting to the mountains,” shares DeBuhr. “Our theme for 2019 is ‘Awaken the Spirit’ — the idea is when we uncover or re-discover the power of our spirit, the simple essence of who we are, the horizon is limitless.”
CO YOGA + life® Magazine asked DeBuhr some more questions about the weekend gathering:
CO Y+L: YOTM is described as a more intimate festival. How would you describe the sense of community?
Krista DeBuhr: YOTM is family. New friends feel like old friends from the first hello. We are your yoga family that accepts you exactly as you are. Each year it feels like coming home. Our return rate is over 50 percent. YOTM was created by nine studio owners all over the state of Arkansas who wanted to bring their students together to learn from other teachers. Our hope is having hundreds of yogis on the mountain top moving and breathing together will raise our collective vibration and enhance the world.
CO Y+L: YOTM is hosted in Snowmass, Colorado, a vibrant and picturesque town in the Rocky Mountains. What do you think makes the setting so special?
KB: The setting is private, the views are spectacular and the teachers are authentic. At the end of the day, life is ALL about the people! The energy at yoga festivals is something that is best experienced. The magic can only be felt in the company of others. Gina Caputo closes the festival with a class called “Together We Rise.”
CO Y+L: What is a class or workshop from this year’s lineup you want to highlight?
KB: We are thrilled to offer:
- Live music by Satsang
- Yoga by Eoin Finn
- Jivamukti by Karl Straub
- Hikes to the Yin/Yang
- Sound Healing by Drishti Beats
- Yoga Mountain Jam with Diana Vitantonio and DJ Bhakti Styler
- Pool Party by Wise Bares
- Lululemon is hosting a Sound Off™Silent Disco
CO Y+L: What can we expect to experience and take away from this year’s festival?
KB: Memories are created, lifetime relationships are built, confidence is cultivated and a sense of adventure is had by all!
YOTM exists to provide a lighthearted yet soulful approach to empowered living through travel, yoga, and self-inquiry. We believe the journey to enlightenment is paved with adventure. Forge a new path, live your truth and make new friends.
