Sustainability Story : Hydro Flask’s #RefillforGood Campaign | By Lauren Farrauto

Hydro Flask kicked off Plastic Free July with a new campaign entitled #RefillForGood. This new campaign perfectly aligns with the company’s overall goal to support small actions that result in big impacts, such as transitioning to reusable containers for food and drinks. Hydro Flask plans to maintain this campaign long past Plastic Free July.

“We’re thrilled to share #RefillForGood as our rally cry to encourage others to make the switch from single-use plastics to a more sustainable solution,” says Lucas Alberg, PR and communications manager at Hydro Flask. Here’s what else he had to say:

What does sustainability mean to Hydro Flask?

For all of us at Hydro Flask, parks and public green spaces represent places that lead to happier, healthier and more fulfilled lives. We believe that these special places are worth saving for future generations. Environmental responsibility is a part of our DNA; we’ve been offering reusable products since our inception in 2009, and as a brand, we’re continually striving to not only reduce our own environmental footprint, but also encouraging and empowering others to do so the same.

How do you hope this campaign impacts the consumer industry?

We believe that protecting and preserving our environment is crucial. Single-use plastic pollution not only negatively impacts the places where we all play and recreate, but also the long-term health of our society as a whole. #RefillForGood is our rally cry to make good changes for good reasons. It is our hope that people everywhere can begin taking small, achievable steps toward a big impact for the planet by eliminating single-use bottles and plastic containers in their daily lives and replacing them with reusable alternatives instead.

Do you hope to expand the campaign in the future? If so, what are some ideas?

As the world population continues to grow, important issues such as environmental responsibility and land preservation become more important than ever. As a result, the launch of #RefillForGood is merely one step in our efforts to combat single-use plastic and make change. Over time, we can make a difference.

Our Parks for All program will be going into its fourth year this fall, and we intend to continue our work and effort towards building, maintaining, restoring and providing better access to parks. It’s our way of sharing the love we have for public lands and green spaces, while ensuring they remain healthy by supporting non-profit organizations focused on building, maintaining, restoring and providing better access to parks. Since the launch of Parks For All in 2017, we’ve given over 1.5 million dollars to nearly 100 non-profits and donated more than 26,000 bottles. Giving back to this mission is something that our employees are passionate about and that our consumers are proud to support.

How does Hydro Flask implement sustainable practices within the company?

Launched in 2009 as a reusable water bottle brand, environmental responsibility and sustainability is engrained into the brand. The water bottles, which are built with Hydro Flask’s proprietary TempShield™ double wall vacuum insulation technology and made from a durable, 18/8 Pro-Grade stainless steel, have a lifetime warranty and are built to last.
