Have you tried Buti Yoga?

The 2018 GoPro Mountain Games in Vail may be a great time to experience the practice! Saturday, June 9, Yvonne Schwartz is teaching a Buti Yoga class in the Zen Zone — outside on the grass at Ford Park.

“I would best describe Buti Yoga as the feminine version of a more traditional practice of yoga,” explains Schwartz.

When she originally began this practice, it was after practicing Ashtanga and Vinyasa Yoga for over 15 years.

“I was a control freak and my traditional form of yoga was a place that I was starting to continue that pattern of control,” she shares. “Controlling my thoughts, controlling my body, controlling my alignment, controlling my breath. While I still believe that the practice of traditional asana is important, I was losing my mind. I needed balance — and isn’t that ultimately what yoga is all about.”

Schwartz says she took her first Buti class, and it was like nothing she had experienced before.

“Yes, there was yoga,” she says. “A lot of it, as the fluidity of the practice is based on yoga asana. But, I found that Buti allowed me to completely get out of my head and fully into my body —which after having two kids was feeling a tad foreign.”

Buti combines creative movement sequences and traditional asana to help release tension, release stress and improve strength. The practice focuses on the areas of the body that are often missed in a traditional asana class.

“In this practice, you will find elements of Kundalini, pranayama and chakra activation, and the end result is a blissed out body and mind,” says Schwartz. “Not to mention that it’s just fun!”

Buti workouts are designed to transform your body and soul with cardio-intensive bursts of tribal dance, primal movement and conditioning woven into a dynamic yoga practice. Created by celebrity trainer Bizzie Gold, Buti Yoga utilizes the Spiral Structure Technique to sculpt and tone the deep abdominal muscles that stabilize and strengthen the body. Instead of linear movements, Gold favors movements that challenge the body along all planes of motion. This practice is physical and practiced to hip-hop, electronica, and tribal dance music. Participants should be free of injuries and in good health.

Join Schwartz for a fun and upbeat practice at the GoPro Mountain Games, Saturday, June 9 at 11:30 a.m.

“I am so excited to bring Buti Yoga to the GoPro Games this year!It is a physical form of yoga that improves strength, stamina and flexibility,” says Schwartz. “It will be a great way for athletes of all kinds to come release stress, sweat and have a great time. The music is non-traditional and it’s a great class for seasoned yogis and new yogis alike.”
